Welding Department consist of:

The Grade III welding assessment is developed to test competencies of students engaged in the manufacturing and service industry in the area of welding in order to standardize their operations and certify students for their suitability to carry out tasks expected at this level. A grade III person is empowered with skills and knowledge, attitudes and techniques for using appropriate tools and equipment needed to perform a job with efficiency and undertaking- Grade III welder acquires five major areas of functional competency: manual metal Arc welding, Gas welding, Gas brazing, effects and associated projects in welding and fabrication trade.- The following are the basic areas that are necessary to facilitate the operator to perform: safety (personal, workshop and site management), measurements units, tools and equipment, materials and components, interpretation of engineering drawings, manual metal arc welding, gas welding, gas cutting, brazing and effects of heat on metals.

A grade II person is a skilled artesian with knowledge, attitudes and techniques in the use of appropriate tools and equipment which are needed to perform a job with efficiency and understanding. At this level the artisan requires basic principles, knowledge and practice of safety procedures on annual metal arc welding, gas welding, welding of cast iron and non-ferrous metals, MIG welding, TIG welding, resistance welding, hard facing, tools, equipment, machines and materials in welding and fabrication works, in order to perform to the desired standards in welding works and minimize n production costs. The following are areas that are necessary to facilitate the operator to perform: safety (personal, workshop and site management),interpretation of engineering drawings, tools and equipment, engineering materials, manual metal arc welding, gas welding, welding of cast iron and non-ferrous metals, MIG welding, TIG welding resistance welding, hard facing quality control and estimation and costing.

The level requires the artisan to have basic principles, knowledge and practice of safety procedures as illustrated in Grade III & II with additional skills and knowledge in welding tests, other welding process and welding of plastics.
